It has been a while since Central PA AEE has offered a brewery tour. Olde Bedford Brewing Company (OBBC) will host our first virtual or live** tour of this year. Dave Heller will lead us through the Brewery and answer any questions we have.

The Brewery Virtual tour will start at 4:30 for about 30 minutes.

After the tour, we will offer a set of puzzles, trivia, and quizzes (fun small group activity) using Zoom breakout rooms that will run for about 45 minutes.

We will send you a Zoom link on Tuesday, April 13 in the afternoon after 1 pm.

You may register for either the virtual or live** tour. Select which option when registering.

**If you happen to be in the Bedford area or want to join in for the live tour, you can stop by:

Olde Bedford Brewing Company
109 Railroad Street
Bedford, PA

Masks and social distancing are required. OBBC is closed to the public on Tuesdays so the CPAEE chapter will be the only guests in the building. Taps will be open. Some prepackaged snacks will be offered and you may bring your own snacks if you desire to.

Dave and Mary Heller, are the owners and operators of Olde Bedford Brewing Company (OBBC). The first licensed brewery since the birth of Bedford County in 1771. They are natives of the Bedford area and love the beauty, nature, and history of Central PA.  But even more than that, “They love beer!”  As stated in the past, they decided to open a brewery for that one reason.  Dave’s previous work with the FBI took them on a rollercoaster career all over the U.S. and overseas. Along the way, they had the pleasure of tasting craft beers at the many breweries they encountered during their travels. It was a journey that developed into a passion. “We hope to make Olde Bedford Brewing Company a reflection of ourselves as we create beer we like to drink and hope that you will too!”

OBBC is a veteran- and women-owned brewery.  Dave is an Engineering graduate of Penn State and Capitol College.  He received his graduate degree from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, Ca. After a 24-year career with the FBI, Dave and Mary decided to move back to his family farm located in Bedford County where they would finish raising their two children.  Dave continued to homebrew and started to use the farm to grow hops and other adjuncts used in making his beer. After several local community leaders started to comment about the beer he was making, one of them suggested they should open a brewery in Bedford.  As such, Dave & Mary saw a great opportunity to start a new business that would evolve into one of the cornerstones of the community. OBBC opened its doors in March 2018 and is collocated with Fat Jimmy’s Outfitters. A relationship with Jim Fungaroli, owner of Fat Jimmy’s Outfitters, highlighted the fact that both businesses share a similar clientele. The response from the community has been more than welcoming.
