Learn about Energy Management at the Highmark Data Center

Data centers are major energy users and have many opportunities for energy management. Come and hear what contributes to energy management and energy conservation at the Highmark Data Center. Tammy Petrasic, Director of Facilities Management, has extensive experience in focusing on controlling energy use at the Highmark Data Center. She will share the design aspects of the data center, leading to the 2006 LEED Silver certification; the operational changes implemented to achieve Energy Star certifications and future planned capital investments in energy conservation. 

This facility is secure. Only those registered for the meeting will be able to attend. Registration is limited to 30 people.  Last day to register is Monday, October 16.

Security Requirements for Visitors: 

  1. Upon arriving, attendees must stop at the security gate, push the call button and announce their name and company.  After confirming they are on the attendees’ list, Security will open the gate to the parking lot.  Attendees may park in any open spaces and proceed to the front door.
  2. In the main lobby, attendees must present their government-issued ID (driver’s license) to Security to obtain a visitor’s badge.  No one will receive building access without a valid ID.

Presenter Bio

Tammy Petrasic, Director of Facilities Management, has worked at Highmark Inc. for 22 years.  Her team is responsible for the cost-effective and energy-efficient operation and maintenance of Highmark’s facilities located in Central PA.  She is also responsible for the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of Highmark’s mission-critical data center.  Prior to Highmark, Tammy worked for an engineering consulting firm designing mechanical systems for commercial, industrial and healthcare buildings.  Tammy graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a registered professional engineer.
